From an Idea to a Movement: Our First Harmony Sisters Update

It feels fitting that our very first Harmony Sisters blog post begins with a thank you.

Harmony Sisters started with one simple belief:

When women support women, incredible things happen.

What began as an idea to create a stronger community for women in music has grown into something much bigger. Harmony Sisters has become a place where female musicians can share opportunities, collaborate, recommend one another, show up for each other’s performances, celebrate wins, ask for help, and know there is a community standing behind them.

And we’ve already made some pretty incredible memories together.

From Gruene Hall to Harmony Sisters

One of the earliest and most special homes for Harmony Sisters has been the historic Gruene Hall.

Harmony Sisters performed a showcase there in 2025 and again in 2026, bringing women artists together on one of the most iconic stages in Texas music. We very much hope to continue that tradition with another Harmony Sisters showcase in 2027.

This summer, the Sisters also became part of my summer residency at Gruene Hall. Every other Monday throughout the summer, Harmony Sisters joined me, giving us another opportunity to share songs, introduce audiences to incredible female musicians, collaborate, and simply spend time making music together.

There is something pretty powerful about watching a community created to make more room for women in music quite literally take its place on a historic Texas stage.

Our Biggest Showcase Yet

Then came July 18.

Harmony Sisters took over The Lucky Rabbit in Jonestown for our largest showcase yet.

Two stages. An incredible lineup of women artists. Photographers, vendors, volunteers, musicians, friends, family, and hundreds of people coming together to support live music and the women making it.

There were collaborations, new friendships, introductions, photographs, songs, hugs, business cards exchanged, people jumping in to help one another, and women discovering other women in the Texas music community they may never have met otherwise.

That was the whole point.

Harmony Sisters isn’t about competing for the same tiny piece of the pie.

We’re building a bigger table.

Next Stop: The Texas Women’s Songwriters Festival

This September, Harmony Sisters takes another enormous step forward at the Texas Women’s Songwriters Festival in historic downtown Lockhart.

And we are going because you helped us get there.

When we learned that Harmony Sisters had an opportunity to sponsor an official stage at the festival, we launched a community fundraiser and asked people to believe in what we are building.

You did.

To every single person who donated, shared our fundraiser, encouraged us, attended an event, told a friend, or helped spread the word: thank you.

Some donations were large. Some were small. Every single one of them represented someone saying, “I believe women in music deserve this.”

Because of that support, Harmony Sisters will have an official stage at the Texas Women’s Songwriters Festival.

That stage belongs to all of us.

It belongs to the women who have shown up for one another since Harmony Sisters began. It belongs to the musicians who lend each other a harmony, a guitar cable, a contact, a ride, a recommendation, or an encouraging word. And it belongs to the community of people who decided this mission was worth supporting.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped get us to Lockhart.

Now we get to do the fun part:

Fill that stage with women and music.

And We’re Dreaming Even Bigger

I’m also currently working on something completely new: the first-ever Harmony Sisters Wynter Awards Banquet.

My hope is to create an annual celebration where we can recognize the women in our community not only for their music, but for the things that make Harmony Sisters special: collaboration, mentorship, generosity, community involvement, creativity, growth, and the women who consistently reach back and lift another sister up.

There are so many victories in this business that never come with a trophy.

Maybe some of them should.

What’s Next for Harmony Sisters?

More stages.

More opportunities.

More collaborations.

More education and mentorship.

More reasons to celebrate one another.

More women walking into rooms knowing they don’t have to walk into them alone.

We’ll use this blog to document that journey and share Harmony Sisters news, artist spotlights, upcoming events, opportunities for women in music, community resources, behind-the-scenes stories, and ways you can become involved.

If you’re a woman making music in Texas, we hope you’ll find a sister here.

And if you’re a venue owner, photographer, journalist, booking agent, sponsor, volunteer, music fan, or simply someone who believes women deserve more opportunities to be heard, there’s a place for you in this story too.

To every person who has performed, donated, volunteered, photographed, shared a post, offered an opportunity, attended a show, carried equipment, introduced two musicians, bought merch, cheered from the audience, or simply asked, “How can I help?”

Thank you.

We’re still at the beginning.

And I cannot wait to see where the Sisters go next.

With love,
